Letter to the World Bank Executive Directors about ceasing publication of the Doing Business Report

More than 300 civil society organisations and academics from across the world call upon the World Bank Executive Directors to end the publication of the World Bank’s Doing Business report.

The World Bank's Doing Business report has a 17-year track record of harmful labour and domestic policy deregulation impacts and the report's rankings have encouraged a race to the bottom between countries, who have turned to slashing labor regulations and relaxing social and environmental standards to climb up the rankings and better attract private investments.

In August 2020 the WBG announced the suspension of the report and rankings to investigate “a number of irregularities.” We are calling on Bank to definitively end the publication of this harmful report.
