Upcoming Event:

10.000 demonstrators expected in Brussels for demonstration on climate change– Please Join the North-South movement and dance!

The Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen is approaching

On Saturday 5 December a demonstration and event will be held in Brussels to demonstrate public support and exert pressure on politicians. This event will be called: “To storm the Climate”.

The demonstration is organised by the Belgian Climate Coalition which consists of more then 70 organisations in Belgium. 11.11.11 and CNCD, both Eurodad members, are active members of this coalition which consists of mainly 3 kind of groups: environmental groups (like WWF, Greenpeace etc.), the North-South Movement and socio-cultural organisations (including the unions).

All those who happen to be in Brussels that day are invited to join us in this effort. The demonstration starts at 14:00h at the Luxemburgplein (Place du Luxembourg) and will pass through the European quarter.  There will be many kind of activities. We will symbolically encircle the European Commission Berlaymont building. The demonstration will end around 17:00h with a closing event at the ‘Jubelpark’ (Cinquantenaire).

Jubilee Debt Campaign UK has provided the organisers with the typical London double decker bus. The bus is a real veteran to campaigns because it was active 10 years ago in the Jubilee 2000 campaign! The bus can be admired here. It will serve as a joint stand for CNCD, 11.11.11, CADTM and EURODAD.

The bus will carry the slogan PAY THE CLIMATE DEBT. Our purpose is to highlight the debt issue in general and more specifically the link between debt and climate change.

11.11.11 and CNCD, together with some other members of the coalition, have produced a movie ( 52 mins)  entitled “Climate Chaos in the South”. The film shows the impact of climate change in the three continents. The original movie is in Dutch, but will be translated soon into Spanish, English and French. If you are interested or can make use of it, please let us know.
