Public development banks interactive infographic

To compliment Eurodad's recent report "Public Development Banks: towards a better model", we have launched an interactive infographic where users can investigate what PDBs are, why their inconsistent performance is often due to the institutions themselves, and what a blueprint for a model PDB would look like.


European Parliament Committees vote in favour of new tax transparency rules for large multinationals, but a dangerous loophole remains
On June 12 two committees of the European Parliament voted on new tax transparency requirements for multinational corporations. While the outcome would strengthen the text proposed by the European Commission, a proposal by the Liberals and Conservatives introduced a dangerous loophole. The issue will now be sent to the plenary of the European Parliament for a final decision. 


World Environment Day: a good time to reflect on unintended consequences
Few would disagree with protecting our fragile and increasingly under-pressure environment, nor with the joys of getting back to nature - especially since more than half of us are now urban dwellers. This year’s World Environment Day urged us to reconnect to the natural world around us, suggesting a stroll in the park or a day on the beach - if you are lucky enough to live near one. As the organisers point out, we are all part of nature and we all intimately depend on it.

Eurodad International Conference 2017
The Eurodad Conference on "Alternative policies for a sustainable world" takes place next week, on June 20-22 in Den Haag, The Netherlands. It is co-hosted with Latindadd, ActionAid Netherlands, Both Ends, OIKOS, Oxfam Novib and SOMO.  Don't forget, even if you can't join us in person at the #EurodadAlternatives17 conference, you can participate in the Day 1 plenary sessions which will be live-streamed on our Facebook page at 14h and 16h (UTC +2)

Eurodad participation in the European Development Days (EDD)
Eurodad was well represented at the European Development Days in Brussels - the annual two-day gathering of the development and sustainability world. Tove Maria Ryding chaired a lively panel discussion on "Tax justice for development", and on the same day Jeroen Kwakkenbos joined a panel debate on "Public Private Engagement in the GPEDC – Fit for partnering?".

What’s New

Following a week-long consultation in which 60 representatives of African Civil Society Organisations participated to examine the “Compact with Africa” and the G20 proposal for a “Marshall Plan”, some key issues and priority expectations were identified for African Citizens.

Eurodad's work on influencing the G20 and the OECD proposals on financing for development, PPPs and regional infrastructure plans was featured in the Civicus State of Civil Society Report 2017.

Eurodad’s Policy and Advocacy Manager Tove Maria Ryding was quoted in Public Finance International  "Campaigners tell European Parliament to close tax avoidance loophole".

The report "Honest Accounts 2017 - How the world profits from Africa's wealth" published by a coalition of UK and African organisations, including Eurodad members Global Justice Now and Jubilee Debt Campaign, was mentioned by Polity.
