Civil society feedback to draft World Bank Group's IDA21 Replenishment Report

Share

On November 14 the Bretton Woods Project, Eurodad, Oxfam International and Urgewald submitted their inputs to the public consultation on the IDA21 draft Replenishment Report.

IDA21 takes place in the context of a polycrisis – including debt, inequality and climate crises, growing instability and challenges to the multilateral order. This has severely impacted the capacity of many low-income countries to fund social services, fight climate change, invest in economic transformation and meet their international human rights obligations. This makes access to concessional and grant lending through IDA ever more important and certainly justifies a significant increase in IDA resources. A strong policy framework is also critical to ensure a transformative IDA21 replenishment. Proposals in this submission aimed at an adequate replenishment of grant-based resources from wealthy countries and to ensure socio-economic transformation is a core ‘mission’ of IDA21.
