Webinar - Why can there be no climate justice without debt justice?
Address:
Online,
Belgium
05:00PM-06:00PM

Many countries in the global south are facing overlapping debt and climate crises. While they have contributed the least to the climate emergency, they are often the most affected by climate impacts and are forced to borrow money to recover from disasters, adapt to climate change, or invest in development. This increases debt burdens and reduces public resources available for climate action, public services, care, education, health, and social protection.
For young people, this issue is especially urgent. Debt and climate breakdown both shape their futures, yet debt justice is often missing from mainstream climate conversations. This webinar will introduce youth activists and young civil society advocates to the links between sovereign debt, climate finance, austerity, and climate justice.
