The pandemic has had a devastating impact on the living conditions of the population of Zambia. Debt relief with private creditor participation is required now to ensure the country can boost its Covid-19 response and support a sustainable recovery. On Sunday 20 September 2020, an international network of over 400 journalists coordinated by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists released the FinCEN Files - exposing the global movement of illicit financial flows through the international banking system.
Debt Justice Norway (SLUG) launched a campaign called #gjeldsbærekraft - or #debtsustainability in English. In this campaign they work together with their member organisations to increase awareness of the relationship between debt sustainability and the UN SDGs, and demand that our politicians take action.
